Originally the Hastings Healthcare Centre, 101 Queen Street was a high profile commercial building in need of a full internal refurbishment, structural strengthening upgrade, and an exterior ‘facelift’.
The strengthening work involved stripping out the building to expose all structural elements, which allowed the installation of new structural steel bracing elements to the roof and wall, and new concrete shear walls to the ground floor. This brought the building’s earthquake strengthening up to 80% NBS (New Building Standard).
After the structural upgrade, we completed the fit out for the buildings’ three commercial tenancies, one of which was our client, Westpac. Managing multiple sub trades such as mechanical, electrical, security, data & communications, fire, and finishing trades throughout the fit out phase ensured that cost and time schedules were adhered to at every stage.
Hawke’s Bay Construction were extremely pleased to have been able to complete the build construction for this high profile heritage building in our community, and are looking forward to seeing its new tenants make the spaces their own.
